Jeff Ridenour is a scenic designer based in New York City originally from Texas. Primarily designing for theatre and opera, Jeff thoroughly enjoys collaboration with other artists to create evocative and bold narrative designs. His diverse background in liberal arts, specifically music and theatre training, has enhanced his designs through reflecting the tone of a work's music and text through visual design combined with energy and style.
Jeff received his Master of Fine Arts from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where he studied under the esteemed scenic designer John Ezell and with many guest artists, including David Gropman, Karen Schulz-Gropman, Carrie Robbins and Rocco DiSanti. In addition to designing for the UMKC Theatre, he has also designed for the Coterie Theatre, Unicorn Theatre, Kansas City Artists Against AIDS and Arrow Rock Lyceum Theatre. After designing Cendrillon for the UMKC Conservatory of Music under the direction of Fenlon Lamb, Jeff has formed a strong creative partnership with Lamb designing for the Nightingale Opera Theatre and Bar Harbor Music Festival under her direction. Before graduating UMKC Jeff interned with and assisted George Tsypin in the George Tsypin Opera Factory on Manon Lescaut for the Berlin Staatsoper-Schiller Theatre and St. Petersburg Mikhailovsky Theatre.
